The Formula

What Celergen is.

What is Celergen+

Celergen is a daily capsule of marine peptides, cold-extracted in Switzerland, that gives your body the raw material it uses to rebuild skin, joints and muscle.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids: protein already broken down small enough for the body to absorb and put to work directly. Your body rebuilds itself continuously, and less efficiently with age.

Legally it is a food supplement, and that is the product category printed on the box. In practice the description is not very useful, because most of what the word covers is vitamins and minerals in tablet form.

Celergen is a Swiss marine cellular formula. The active content is three marine peptide extracts from deep-sea salmon and herring, at 570 mg per capsule combined, alongside grape skin extract, coenzyme Q10, lutein and selenium. It is taken once daily as a programme measured in months rather than as a daily top-up.

What is actually in it+

Per capsule:

  • Marine Protein, salmon extract 300 mg
  • Peptide E Collagen, salmon extract 230 mg
  • Hydro MN Peptide, marine cartilage extract, 40 mg
  • Grape Skin Extract 10 mg
  • Coenzyme Q10 10 mg
  • Lutein, from Tagetes extract, 10 mg
  • Selenium 50 micrograms, 91 percent NRV

Other ingredients are gelatin, coconut oil, beeswax, lecithin and colouring agents E172. The full panel is set out on How It's Made.

Is it fish derived, and what about allergens+

Yes. Celergen contains fish. The three marine actives are derived from salmon and herring, so it is not suitable for anyone with a fish allergy, and it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, do not take the product.

Where is Celergen made+

In Switzerland, under licence by Swiss Caps AG of Kirchberg, a Swiss encapsulation specialist working to pharmaceutical manufacturing standards.

The marine raw material is sourced from deep, cold water off the coast of France and cold extracted at 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Most marine collagen on the market is heat processed, which is faster and cheaper but breaks the peptide chains that make the material worth extracting.

Taking It

How the programme works.

When should I take it, and does timing matter+

One capsule daily, best if used 30 minutes before breakfast.

Taking it before food gives the capsule a clear passage through the stomach, which is what the Swiss Peptide Delivery System is designed for. Consistency matters more than precision. The same time each day is better than the perfect time some days.

How long before people notice a difference+

It varies, and anyone who gives you a firm number is guessing.

What can be said is how the biology works. Skin cells form in the dermis and take weeks to reach the surface, and that cycle lengthens with age, from roughly 28 days in your twenties to 45 days and beyond after forty. Anything working at the cellular level is therefore invisible for a period by definition.

In the published research, the 28-day skin study recorded measurable change within one cycle. The Tufts study recorded participant-reported improvement from week four. Both suggest the first month is the least representative part of the process.

Why is the programme 90 days rather than 30+

Because one renewal cycle is not a fair test. Ninety days is three complete cycles, each building on the last, and it is the timeframe over which the Tufts University study was conducted.

It is also the point at which most people can tell whether it is working for them, which is a more useful question than whether it worked for someone in a study.

Who should not take it, and what about interactions+

Celergen is for adults only. Do not use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not take it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

If you are taking prescribed medication or being treated for anything, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before starting. That is the right answer regardless of the product, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it.

The Research

What the evidence does and does not show.

Is there peer-reviewed research, and what does it show+

Yes. The principal study was conducted at Tufts University in Boston with two clinics in Spain, following 87 participants across twelve weeks. It measured two markers in the blood, TNF and Substance P. Both were significantly elevated at the start against the control group, and both had decreased significantly by week twelve. It was published in the Journal of Clinical Therapeutics in August 2019, PubMed 31303280.

A 2016 study in Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity followed 41 participants over two months, measuring skin elasticity, sebum production and plasma markers. A separate 28-day study of 43 women aged 40 to 55 recorded a significant decrease in deep wrinkles in 71 percent of participants, against a control group whose wrinkle count increased over the same period.

Every figure used on this site is set out with its source on the research page, including which studies are peer reviewed and which are internal.

How is this different from marine collagen powders and drinks+

Two differences, and the second is the one that matters.

Extraction. Most marine collagen is heat processed. Heat breaks the peptide chains, so what survives is protein but not the structure. Celergen is cold extracted at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, which is slower and more expensive.

Delivery. Collagen taken as a powder or a drink is digested like any other protein. The Swiss Peptide Delivery System carries the actives through the stomach to be absorbed in the small intestine, which is the same route pharmaceutical delivery uses.

Celergen also is not only collagen. Peptide E Collagen is 230 mg of the 570 mg of marine actives. The rest is marine protein and marine cartilage extract.

Products and Ordering

Choosing, and getting it.

What is the difference between the capsules and Serum Royale+

They work on different layers and neither replaces the other.

The capsules deliver marine peptides through circulation to the dermis, the layer where skin is built. That is a slow process measured in renewal cycles.

Serum Royale is a topical serum applied to the surface. It works on the appearance of the skin you have now, and it shows sooner because it is working on a different layer.

What is the difference between a capsule pack and a Combo+

A capsule pack is capsules only. A Combo is capsules plus Serum Royale.

  • 30 Day, one box of capsules
  • 90 Day, three boxes of capsules
  • 3 Month Combo, three boxes of capsules and two bottles of Serum Royale
  • 6 Month Combo, six boxes of capsules and four bottles of Serum Royale

If you are mainly interested in how you feel rather than how your skin looks, the capsule packs are the straightforward choice.

Which countries do you ship to, and how long does it take+

We ship across the United Kingdom and to much of Europe, including France, Ireland, Greece, Czechia, Slovakia, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Germany and the Channel Islands.

Delivery timescales, costs and any duties that apply are set out on the shipping page. If your country is not listed, the contact page will reach us and we will tell you whether we can.

How should I store it+

In a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and out of the reach of young children. There is no need to refrigerate it.

Each box carries a batch number and a best-before date printed on the end panel.
