Hydro MN Peptide

A marine cartilage extract combining hydrolysed proteins, mainly collagen, with polysaccharides at 35 to 40 percent chondroitin sulphate. The smallest of the three marine actives by weight, and the one whose composition most closely resembles the material it supports.

What Has Been Studied

Two fractions, studied for different things.

Hydro MN Peptide contains two studied fractions, referred to in the research as Peptide M and Peptide N.

Peptide M

Skin structure and elasticity under UV exposure

Skin structure research

Ultraviolet exposure is a principal factor in premature skin ageing, producing lines, roughness, loss of elasticity and uneven pigmentation over time.

Peptide M contains the same class of proteins and polysaccharides found in skin itself. Research examined their effect on skin structure, hydration, texture and elasticity, and recorded reductions in the appearance of fine lines, dilated capillaries and age spots.

Volunteers, four protein types, glycaemic response compared

Clinical · 17 volunteers aged 32 to 64 · Crossover

A study comparing four proteins, Peptide N, fish fillet, casein milk protein and soy protein isolate, on blood glucose response. Each volunteer consumed all four in random order as part of composite meals of similar macronutrient composition, with a week between each. Blood samples were taken in the fasting state and seven times after each meal, up to 240 minutes.

Peptide N produced a significantly blunted blood glucose response compared with fish fillet protein and soy protein isolate. Separate research examined its effect on satiety through metabolic hormones.

Composition

Chondroitin sulphate is a polysaccharide found naturally in cartilage, where it forms part of the matrix that gives the tissue its structure and resistance to compression. In Hydro MN Peptide it makes up 35 to 40 percent of the extract, alongside hydrolysed proteins that are mainly collagen.

A note on evidence

The research on this ingredient is smaller in volume than on the other two marine actives, and none of it is indexed on PubMed. It is set out here so the record is complete rather than selective.
